This document specifies requirements and methods of test for type SA heavy fuel oil that is suitable for use in firing installations provided with preheaters for fuel treatment, and for which preheating is required for the purposes of transport, storage and combustion.
Type SA fuel oils as specified in this standard are not to be mixed with fuel oils produced from raw materials other than petroleum products.
This standard does not apply to marine fuel oils.
