Application
Unless specially mentioned in specific Sections, the requirements of the Sections of this Chapter apply to all seagoing steel ships classed 100A5 whose breadth to depth ratio is within the range common for seagoing ships and the depth H of which is not less than:
•L / 16 for unlimited range of service and RSA (200) (Restricted Service Area)
•L / 18 for RSA (50), RSA (20)
•L / 19 for RSA (SW)
Smaller depths may be accepted if proof is submitted of equal strength, rigidity and safety of the ship.
Ships deviating from the Construction Rules in their types, equipment or in some of their parts may be classed, provided that their structures or equipment is found to be equivalent to the Society's requirements for the respective class.
Passages of this chapter printed in italics contain recommendations and notes which are not part of the Classification Rules.
