This specification covers the material requirements for plain and laminated elastomeric bridge bearings. Elastomeric bearings furnished under this specification shall adequately provide for thermal expansion and contraction, rotation, camber changes, and creep and shrinkage, where applicable, of structural members. Elastomeric bearings as herein defined shall include unreinforced pads (consisting of elastomer only) and reinforced bearings with steel or fabric laminates.
The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard.
