Paints and varnishes -- Wettability-- Part 5: Determination of the polar and dispersive fractions of the surface tension of liquids from contact angles measurements on a solid with only a disperse contribution to its surface energy

pending, Most Current
Organization: DS
Status: pending
Page Count: 10
ICS Code (Paint and colour industries (Vocabularies)): 01.040.87
scope:

This standard specifies a test method to determine the polar and dispersive fractions of the surface tension of liquids by optical methods. The method can be applied for the characterization of liquid coating materials. For liquids with non-Newton flow properties1) restrictions of the applicability can occur. This part of the standard assumes that the information of surface tension of the liquid to be tested and the surface free energy of the dispersive reference solids is known. Methods for determination see ISO 19403-2 and ISO 19403-3 and also EN 14370, ISO 1409.
