The standard applies to the following additive manufacturing processes: laser sintering of polymer parts (VDI 3405 Part 1) and laser beam melting of metallic parts (VDI 3405 Part 2). It can also be applied to other additive manufacturing processes listed in the VDI 3405, provided that due consideration is given to their individual, processspecific features.
