Measuring rooms - Classification and characteristics - Planning and execution

active, Most Current
Organization: VDI
Publication Date: 1 December 2015
Status: active
Page Count: 36
ICS Code (Linear and angular measurements in general): 17.040.01
scope:

This standard recommends a classificatory system for measuring rooms with which, in addition to describing basic principles, the capabilities of existing measuring rooms can be recognized and compared and which makes it possible to plan future measuring rooms in a way appropriate to the tasks for which they are to be used.

Since there is a multiplicity of possibilities and different regulations, requirements relating to the design of a measuring room should be derived from the given conditions specified for the case in question.

Measuring rooms can be set up and operated in accordance with the provisions of this standard. The recommendations given in this standard do not exclude other solutions. Deviations may be appropriate when, for example, they make it possible better results to be achieved regarding measurement uncertainty.

The scope of application of this standard covers measuring rooms dealing with any physical quantities. On account of the special importance of the measurand "length" this standard predominantly describes those characteristics which are important to measuring rooms working with dimension measurement.
