a. Design and development, acquisition, storage, transport, distribution, maintenance, evacuation and disposition of materiel,
b. Transport of personnel,
c. Acquisition or construction, maintenance, operation and disposition of facilities,
d. Acquisition or furnishing of services,
e. Medical and health service support1

Logistics encompass the broad range of sustainment activities across a full spectrum of conflict. Since this document primarily focuses on the operational level land logistic, activities such as design, development, construction, acquisition and disposition of equipment and facilities are only addressed indirectly in this document, namely only if and insofar as these activities play a role during operations. For the purpose of this document the definition of logistics is used in its widest sense to include the personnel, administrative and field services which support the morale and welfare of personnel across a full spectrum of conflict.
