These standards cover single stage and multistage steam turbines, reduction gears, air cooled electric generators, switchgear and auxiliary systems. This standard is also applicable to turbines expanding various gases or compressed air.

In addition, this standard applies to auxiliary equipment associated with the turbine generator such as governors, baseplates, excitation controls, steam piping, and so forth. The standard does not apply to other equipment in the steam cycle or electrical distribution systems.
