The following requirements apply for all systems and plants for launch and recovery as well as for coilup/ coil-off mechanism for umbilicals of manned submersibles.

Key issues are identified through requirements for alternative recovery of submersibles.

Limitations are given in the rating of the launch and recovery systems with respect to a given, specified, sea-state.

Load conditions may need to be estimated through the use of calculations such as defined in Pt.3 Ch.1.

Requirements for testing are given in [1.7] to [1.9].
