Diese Norm gilt für die Verwendung von Kalksandsteinen der Kategorie I nach DIN EN 771-2 für geschütztes und ungeschütztes Mauerwerk, an das Anforderungen hinsichtlich der Standsicherheit, des Wärme-, Schall und des Brandschutzes gestellt werden können.
Die Verwendbarkeit von Kalksandsteinen nach DIN EN 771-2 für die Anwendung in Erdbebengebieten ist in 4.7 geregelt.
Die Anwendungsnorm gilt insbesondere nicht für
- Kalksandsteine, zu deren Herstellung Kesselsand oder Blähglas verwendet wurde;
- Mauersteine mit in den Lagerflächen eingelassenen Mulden, deren Anteil an der Lagerfläche, einschließlich sonstig vorhandener Lochungen, mehr als 15 % beträgt.
