This specification covers Advanced Degaussing Systems (ADGSs) (see 6.4.1) for three ship groups: surface ships, CVNs, and submarines. This specification does not cover non-ferrous hull craft such as mine countermeasure ships. This specification describes the main characteristics of a degaussing system with multiple distributed cabinets. Ancillary components such as degaussing loops (see 6.4.12), feeder cables (see 6.4.10), degaussing loop connection boxes, and other miscellaneous hardware are not specified in this document. Degaussing cable specifications are found in MIL-HDBK-299. When necessary, these components are discussed for contextual purposes only.
