MODUK - DEF STAN 00-970: LEAFLET 5

General Requirements and Definitions Atmospheric Disturbances; Leaflet 5

inactive, Most Current
Organization: MODUK
Publication Date: 1 December 1999
Status: inactive
Page Count: 16
scope:

INTRODUCTION

This leaflet contains information related to 2.1.39. More generally, it defines turbulence models applicable to aeroplane flying qualities in both manual and automatic flight. Methods are outlined indicating how the models may be used to predict, by analysis and simulation, the flight characteristics likely to be experienced.

The requirements of Section 2 do not generally distinguish between flight in calm air and in turbulence; however, it may be assumed that where numerical values are assigned to flying qualities parameters they contain some allowance for atmospheric disturbances. In other cases specific criteria are given to cover turbulence effects explicitly. Reference should be made to the corresponding flying qualities leaflet where appropriate advice may be found.
