Dieser Teil der IEC 61755 legt die Grenzmaße einer optischen Schnittstelle mit abgeschrägter rechteckiger Polyphenylensulfid-(PPS-)Ferrule mit physikalischem Kontakt (en: PC; physical contact) fest, welche die speziellen Anforderungen für Faser-zu-Faser-Verbindungen erfüllt. Ferrulen, die aus dem in dieser Norm beschriebenen Werkstoff gefertigt werden, sind geeignet für die Verwendung in den Kategorien C, U, E und O nach IEC 61753-1.

Ferrulen-Abmessungen und Merkmale sind in der Normenreihe IEC 61754 für LWL-Schnittstellen enthalten.
