Purpose
The purpose of this Handbook is to assist organisations and responsible individuals to-
(a) develop and implement a document control framework;
(b) improve an existing document control framework;
(c) implement a document control program;
(d) monitor the performance of their document control program;
(e) identify continuous improvement opportunities for their document control program; and
(f) benchmark the quality of their document control program and its application in their organisation.
Organisations need to consider-
(i) the appropriateness of their document control program to meet their statutory or regulatory requirements;
(ii) roles and responsibilities of individuals tasked with performing document control activities;
(iii) how to effectively manage the business change related to implementing a document control program;
(iv) supporting technology platforms; and
(v) ongoing monitoring and compliance.
This Handbook provides guidance on the appropriate implementation of a robust document control framework throughout an organisation, through assessment and continuous improvement.
