The EWPS applies to the following structures assets within the relevant Route:

a) Overbridges

b) Underbridges

c) Footbridges

d) Retaining walls

e) Culverts

f) Tunnels

g) Coastal, Estuarine and River Defence (CERDS)

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to define a standard approach for the development of Extreme Weather Plans for Structures assets.

An Extreme Weather Plan (Structures) (EWPS):

a) identifies structures at higher risk from extreme weather;

b) outlines the management actions to protect these structures under extreme weather conditions; and

c) defines a procedure for receiving and acting upon notifications of extreme weather.

By implementing an EWPS the adverse impact of extreme weather can be mitigated, reducing the risk of a functional or structural failure, and therefore offering a greater level of protection to railway operations.
