This section of part 2 of IEC 60598 specifies requirements for portable general purpose luminaires, other than handlamps, for use with tungsten filament, tubular fluorescent and other discharge lamps on supply voltages not exceeding 250 V. It is to be read in conjunction with those sections of part 1 to which reference is made.

This Standard does not cover portable child-appealing luminaires, for which requirements are set out in AS/NZS 60598.2.10.

Luminaires-Particular requirements-Handlamps are covered in AS/NZS 60598.2.8.

Portable luminaires, designated as light fittings by the manufacturer or responsible vendor consistent with Annex ZA shall alternatively conform to the requirements of Annex ZA.
