This module applies to the examination of Network Rail owned, managed, shared and outside party Tunnels and their components.

This includes the examination of cut and cover Tunnels, unless stated in the Tunnel Management Strategy that the Structure, or part of it, is to be examined as a Bridge, in accordance with module NR/L3/CIV/006/1A.

This module is applicable to lined and unlined Tunnels, including Bores, Portals, Cross Passages, Adits and Shafts.

Purpose

This module has been produced to mitigate the risk that Tunnel specific risks are not picked up as part of the examination process leading to the failure of the asset.

This module contains requirements specific to the examination of Tunnels. It should be used in conjunction with the NR/L3/CIV/006/1A and NR/L3/CIV/006/1B.
