This module specifies the requirements for earthing and bonding cables used on a.c. electric traction energy sub-systems on Network Rail infrastructure.

The scope of this standard covers insulated earthing and bonding conductors in accordance with NR/L2/ELP/20185, identified as:

a) Black bonds;

b) Red bonds;

c) Yellow bonds;

d) Green bonds;

e) Common bonding conductors.

Purpose

This module states the product specification requirements for the design, manufacture and testing at works of earthing and bonding cables on Network Rail infrastructure.

Cables under this specification are:

a) Designed for operation under the environmental and installation conditions of a railway environment for the designated service life of the cable system;

b) Constructed and tested to International Standards allowing for a wider pool of suppliers, cross comparison between manufactures and consistency of product between production runs.
