LUL - S1029

Infrastructure Protection and Asset Protection on TfL Projects

active, Most Current
Organization: LUL
Publication Date: 1 March 2021
Status: active
Page Count: 13
scope:

This standard applies to projects promoted and managed by TfL directly or through the TfL supply chain. It also applies to TfL projects promoted and managed by an Outside Party unless dealt with by the TfL Infrastructure Protection team in accordance with standard S1023 "Infrastructure Protection" and other relevant standards outside of LU.

Infrastructure Protection relates to the protection of TfL infrastructure and operations during works physically being undertaken by Outside Parties. Where works are being carried out by TfL (notwithstanding who funds these works), the protection of existing assets outside the scope of the project shall be undertaken by the project team as part of the project. This is termed Asset Protection to avoid confusion with Infrastructure Protection.

Note: For example where LU are undertaking works that affect DLR assets, the LU project team would deal directly with DLR engineers regarding their assets. DLR would not engage the services of Infrastructure Protection

The appropriate experts within the Infrastructure Protection team must give the project team guidance and support throughout the life of the project but are not resourced to deliver items assigned to the project team as noted within this standard

Purpose

The purpose of this standard is to define the relationship between the Infrastructure Protection team and Transport for London (TfL) project teams. This is to ensure that the Infrastructure Protection team is appropriately engaged by TfL project teams and that the required Infrastructure Protection activities are effectively undertaken by both parties.

In addition, this standard describes the activities that will be followed by the project teams to ensure assets that are not part of the project (TfL, Second Party or Outside Party) are adequately protected.
