scope:

This standard applies to:

a) Any part of TfL (including LU) undertaking Works at any time that may affect LU assets

b) Any part of LU (or TfL on behalf of LU) undertaking Works at any time that may affect other owner's assets.

(together "In Scope Works") to ensure that LU and other owners' Mains Services and structures are identified, located and are managed (avoided, protected, diverted, etc.) so that they are maintained in operation without interruption and that the risk of accidental damage is minimised.

Note: This standard supports the TfL Pathway "Site Obstructions / Utility Relocation Plan", "Consents" and "Site Surveys" products.

The standard also applies to the management of Outside (non-TfL) projects by the Infrastructure Protection team in ensuring that LU owned Mains Services and structures that could be affected by such Works are adequately dealt with.

The requirements of this standard shall be followed unless the Works involved are minor maintenance and it is absolutely certain that no Mains Services or structures are or can be affected by the Works.

This standard excludes works under the New Roads and Street Works Act not related to an Outside Party project or TFL Works. These are covered in TfL Engineering standard S1023 "Infrastructure Protection".

Purpose

The purpose of this standard is to define the requirements when TfL projects or maintenance activities involving carrying out Works which may affect buried LU assets or Utility or other owner's structures or when any non-TfL promoted Works are being carried out which affect, or may affect, Mains Services or structures on or in the vicinity of LU.
