LUL - S1021
Works Near Mains Services and Structures
|Publication Date:||1 July 2015|
This standard applies to LU undertaking Works at any time to ensure that Mains Services and structures are located, identified and are dealt with (avoided, protected, diverted, etc.) so that they are maintained in operation without interruption and that the risk of accidental damage is minimised. The standard supports the TfL Pathway "Site Obstructions / Utility Relocation Plan" product.
The standard also applies to the management of Outside Parties by the Infrastructure Protection team in ensuring that Mains Services that could be affected by Outside Party works (in the case of LU equipment) and Mains Services that could have an impact on the railway (in the case of statutory equipment) are adequately dealt with.
This standard excludes works under the New Roads and Street Works Act not related to an Outside Party project or LU Works, which is covered in LU Standard S1023 "Infrastructure Protection".
The requirements of this standard shall be followed unless the Works involved are minor maintenance and it is absolutely certain that no Mains Services or structures are or can be affected by the Works.
The purpose of this standard is to define the requirements for London Underground (LU) and Outside Party organisations carrying out Works which affect, or may affect, Mains Services or structures on or in the vicinity of the railway.
