LUL - S1052

Civil Engineering - Gravity Drainage Systems

active, Most Current
Organization: LUL
Publication Date: 1 June 2023
Status: active
Page Count: 49
scope:

This standard applies to new and rehabilitated gravity drainage system assets owned by TfL as part of the following LU drainage systems:

a) Track and Off-track gravity drainage systems (surface water only);

b) Stations, Depots and other operational buildings gravity drainage systems (foul and surface water);

c) other gravity drainage systems (foul and surface water).

Rehabilitation works are proposals that constitute major change to an existing gravity drainage system. It therefore generally excludes simple like-for-like replacements of individual assets within a gravity drainage system.

This standard defines the responsibilities involved during the life cycle of the assets and sets out the requirements for:

a) Design;

b) Construction;

c) Maintenance (including Inspection and Assessment);

d) Decommissioning.

This Standard should be read in conjunction with TfL Technical Specification T0001 'Civil Engineering - Track and Off-track Gravity Drainage Systems', and any relevant site-specific application of the National Building Specification (NBS) (in relation to Stations, Depots and other operational buildings gravity drainage systems) by the Built Environment team. The specifications state the generic and site-specific materials and workmanship LU requirements.

Purpose

The purpose of this standard is to define the whole life cycle requirements for London Underground (LU) gravity drainage system assets (as far as possible) in performance terms.

In defining requirements specifically applicable to LU gravity drainage system assets, this Standard complements TfL Standard S1050 'Civil Engineering - Common Requirements', which defines mandatory requirements generally applicable to all TfL civil engineering assets (including gravity drainage system assets).

A supporting TfL Guidance Document G0052 'Civil Engineering - Gravity Drainage Systems' gives guidance and information specific to TfL gravity drainage system assets.

There are references within this document to TfL Technical Specifications (T-series documents) and within LU they shall be complied with.
