Scope and Applicability.

This instruction applies to all BUMED civilian positions that are subject to reference (a), chapters 51 and 53 and utilize the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) published position classification standards and guides, when the position(s) have been identified for standardization.

Purpose.

To establish and implement policy, assign responsibilities, and standardize procedures for use of the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) standard position description (SPD) library. The SPD will ensure a consistent approach to position management in BUMED per references (a) through (d). Reference (c) information is located in volume 511.
