scope:
This Standard specifies requirements for pencils and coloured pencils used mainly for general writing, drafting, and drawing, as well as requirements for leads for these pencils (hereafter referred to black leads and coloured leads, respectively). Special coloured pencils such as those for water colour use are outside the scope of this Standard.
This Standard also applies to products combining pencils and coloured pencils, or combining coloured pencils of different colours.
NOTE The International Standard corresponding to this Standard and the symbol of degree of correspondence are as follows.
ISO 9180 : 1988 Black leads for wood-cased pencils - Classification and diameters (MOD)
In addition, symbols which denote the degree of correspondence in the contents between the relevant International Standards and JIS are IDT (identical), MOD (modified), and NEQ (not equivalent) according to ISO/IEC Guide 21-1.
