scope:
This standard applies to new and altered pedestrian barriers and non-lineside fencing within London Underground operational, controlled property, including the parapet of any footbridge within a station. Requirements for parapets of highway bridges are contained in S1051 Civil Engineering - Bridge Structures.
For barrier loading requirements, refer to S1053 Civil Engineering - Building and Station Structures.
Note: Loading requirements do not apply to Proprietary temporary barriers which are only used for guiding customers. Refer also to section 3.4.
For hostile vehicle mitigation barriers and associated control equipment, refer to S1785 TfL Security standard for construction works -design and installation, Security in Design of Stations (SIDOS) Guide, CPNI Guidance, BSi PAS 68 and BSi PAS 69.
For operational boundary fencing adjacent to track assets, refer to S1167.

Purpose
The purpose of this standard is to define the requirements for pedestrian barriers and non-lineside fencing used within and about London Underground (LU) premises and property.
