Purpose:
In accordance with the authority in DoD Directive 5135.02, this issuance:
• Establishes policy, assigns responsibilities, and prescribes procedures for structured categorization of real property assets.
• Establishes the DoD Real Property Categorization System (RPCS) for categorizing real property and the Real Property Categorization Panel (RPCP), in accordance with DoD Instruction 5105.18, as the group responsible for developing and maintaining the RPCS and assigning categories to real property inventories.
