Standard Practices for Simulating Truck Response to Longitudinal Profiles of Vehicular Traveled Surfaces

active, Most Current
Publication Date: 10 September 1999
Status: active
Page Count: 5
ICS Code (Road vehicle systems in general): 43.040.01
ICS Code (IT applications in transport): 35.240.60
scope:

These practices cover the calculation of truck response to longitudinal profiles of traveled surface roughness.

These practices utilize computer simulations to obtain two truck responses including: sprung and unsprung mass vertical displacement, velocity, and acceleration; and sprung mass pitch angular displacement, velocity, and acceleration.

These practices present standard truck simulations (quarter truck, half-single unit truck, and half-tractor semitrailer) for use in the calculations.

The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard.

This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
