active, Most Current
Organization: NR
Publication Date: 2 December 2023
Status: active
Page Count: 9
scope:

This module specifies the engineering deliverables for the design of OCS, including temporary works. It enhances the requirements in NR/L3/ELP/27406 and aligns design complexities with sufficient deliverables, focusing on ensuring key risks and design decisions are taken at an early stage.

It is applicable to:

• new electrification schemes;

• modifications to existing OCS;

• renewals of OCS;

• temporary works impacting on the OCS.

This module is applicable to all OCS Designers.

Purpose

The purpose of this module is to specify the Network Rail requirements for production of Overhead Contact System (OCS) engineering deliverables to meet legislative requirements and to achieve safety, economy and performance.

This module provides a common strategy to demonstrate compliance and optimise the design of railway subsystems, but is not intended to reiterate legislation and governing standards.
