scope:
This Defence Standard specifies the steel.hexagon screws, selected in accordance with the guidance given in DEF STAN 53 - 11, for Ministry of Defence use in new metric designs and wherever practicable, for the maintenance of existing equipment with the exception of:
aerospace vehicles, or close support equipment for these vehicles.
applications at temperatures above 300ºC.
special situations in which there is a critical requirement for screws of higher tensile or corrosion-resisting steel or with surface coatings other thanthose specified in this Standard.
