scope:
The purpose of this Defence Standard is to provide designers and users with advice relating to the choice and application of threaded fasteners. It does not apply to:
a. bolts, screws, and nuts for aerospace vehicles or for close support ground equipment for these vehicles, which are dealt with in DEF STAN 53-9
b. ferrous fasteners for use in temperatures above 300ºC.
