Introduction
Permissive controls are applied to minimise the risk of collision between two trains, the second having been signalled onto a running line which is already occupied by the first. The requirements for controlling such a risk are stated in Signalling Principle Standard GK/RT0044 (ref.1) and SSI8003-83 is based on these requirements.
