This specification defines the maintenance requirements for Whiteley PETS, their charger, batteries, associated phones and tail cables where used as Public Emergency Telephone Systems at road/rail crossings on Network Rail infrastructure. This specification applies to all persons engaged in the maintenance and testing of Whiteley PETS, their batteries, power supplies, associated phones and tail cables.
Purpose
The purpose of maintaining and testing Whiteley public emergency telephone system (PETS) is to decrease the incidence of failures through deterioration and to identify potential failures before they become service affecting.
