This Standard covers the basic requirements for the design, performance, testing, and supply of two sizes of filter coalescer elements for use in decontaminating fuel by retaining solids and by coalescing emulsified free water into droplets of a size which will fall or be stripped into the sump of a filter separator vessel for subsequent draining.

The sizes of filter elements covered by this Standard are:

a 'standard' elements conforming to the dimensional requirements of Fig 1;

a 152 mm (6 inch) nominal outside diameter element conforming to the dimensional requirements of Fig 2 and which may be manufactured in various length to suit different filter seperator applications.
