scope:
This Defence Standard specifies the steel hexagon nuts, selected in accordance with the guidance given in DEF STAN 53 - 11, for Ministry of Defence use in new metric designs and wherever practicable for the maintenance of existing equipments with the exception of:
aerospace vehicles, or close support equipment for these vehicles;
temperature applications above 300°C;
special situations in which there is a critical requirement for nuts of higher tensile, or corrosion resistant steel, or with surface coatings other than those specified in this Standard.
