This specification sets forth functional requirements for a national system to provide real time graphic weather products, and create Locally Generated graphic weather products, for display to specialists at the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA's) Automated Flight Service Stations (AFSSS). AFSSs will also include an Enroute Flight Advisory Service (EFAS). This new system is called the Graphic Weather Display System (GWDS). The remaining paragraphs in this section (Section 1.1, Introduction) briefly introduce the GWDS and the expected procurement approach, but are not formal requirements for either this system or the procurement of this system.
