FPS-7 RADAR NAS INTERFACE MODIFICATION

active, Most Current
Organization: FAA
Publication Date: 12 October 1971
Status: active
Page Count: 16
scope:

This specification sets forth the requirements for modification kits to improve video inputs to NAS automation equipment from operating FPS-7 series radars. The modifications will be implemented in a manner that will not reduce the existing operational capability of military use outputs. The normal video channel will be modified to reduce the inherent pulse stretching on strong aircraft returns. Circuitry will be provided to minimize video ringing, video range inaccuracy and baseline shift at inputs to the NAS automation equipment. Log receivers with separate log/FTC/antilog features for aircraft detection and video with no weather fixes other than circular polarization applied will be provided for use with the NAS Weather Outline Generation Equipment.
