This specification contains the requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for UHF radio data link transceivers. Each data link transceiver is intended to accept the 600 ohm audio frequency input/output lines of a modem and provide a broadcast, multipoint, voiceband channel in a network of identical transceivers stationed within a maximum range of five miles, in a half-duplex mode. Equipment to be delivered is required to meet the technical standards of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) "Manual of Regulations and Procedures for Federal Radio Frequency Management," for land-fixed (FX) stations. Nominal transmitter power output is four watts.
