This Defence Standard specifies the steel hexagon UNF nuts, selected in accordance with the guidance given in DEF STAN 53 - 12 (latest issue), to be used with the exceptions stated below, by the Ministry of Defence in designs based on imperial units and wherever practicable for the maintenance of existing equipments.
