Varnish, Epoxide, Stoving, Type QX Type: Spraying
| Organization: | MODUK |
| Publication Date: | 15 February 1983 |
| Status: | inactive |
| Page Count: | 10 |
scope:
This Standard relates to a one pack stoving varnish for application to suitably pretreated metals, such as those used in cylinders and boxes for ammunition, to provide a hard, firmly adherent and highly abrasion-resistant coating which will withstand rough handling and protect the metal against the effects of contamination with saline solutions.
Normally two coats of varnish should be specified.
The designation 'Type QX' indicates that this varnish is of a quality suitable for certain application where a high degree of compatibility with explosives is required. However, the compatibility with all explosives in all environments has not been established and Design Authorities should seek advice on particular applications from the Director, Propellants, Explosives, and Rocket Motor Establishment, Waltham Abbey, Essex.
