This specification establishes the functional requirements for the design, development, documentation, and testing of the enhancements to the National Airspace Data Interchange Network (NADIN). NADIN will include, as its major component, a packet switched network to complement the existing store-and-forward NADIN Message Switched Network (MSN). This network extension is designated the NADIN Packet Switched Network (PSN). The combined NADIN MSN and PSN is designated NADIN. All references to the X.25 standard in this specification pertain to the 1984 Consultative Committee International Telegraph and Telephone (CCITT) version of that standard. The PSN capabilities are listed in paragraph 3.1.1.1.

This specification is being issued to incorporate changes approved by the Configuration Control Board on May 26, 1994.
