REISSUANCE AND PURPOSE. This Directive:

Reissues reference (a) to update policy and assign responsibilities for the management of DoD housing.

Continues authorization for publication of reference (b), pursuant to reference (c), to consolidate policy guidance and procedures for the DoD Housing Management Program.

APPLICABILITY AND SCOPE. This Directive:

Applies to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), the Military Departments, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities in the Department of Defense (hereafter referred to collectively as the "DoD Components").

Encompasses housing for accompanied and unaccompanied personnel and temporary lodging facilities including units that are owned and operated by the Department of Defense as identified in reference (d) and privatized housing as identified in Section 2871 of title 10 of the United States Code (reference (e)).
