scope:

This Defence Standard specifies the steel grub screws, selected in accordance with the guidance given in DEF STAN 53-11, to be used by the Navy, Army, and Air Force Departments of the Ministry of Defence, and by the Ministry of Technology (Aviation Group) in all new metric designs and wherever practicable for the maintenance of existing metric equipment with the exception of:

aerospace vehicles, or close support ground equipment for these vehicles,

special situations in which there is a critical requirement for screws of corrosion resisting steel or with surface coatings other than those specified in this Standard.
