The purpose of the RWP is to significantly improve the timeliness and quality of available weather information in order to enhance the safety and efficiency of air traffic operations.
This System Specification establishes the requirements for the Real-Time Weather Processor (RWP) System. Development of the RWP System is sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and is one element of an extensive upgrade of the National Airspace System (NAS).
