Introduction

The purpose of this manual is to provide Aids to Navigation (ATON) personnel with the safest, most efficient methods and practices of good seamanship possible to better manage the risks inherent in ATON operations. Specialized ATON seamanship plays a critical role in achieving this purpose both afloat and ashore. While local conditions may require slight variations in certain methods and practices, these variations should never compromise the basic principles of safety and good seamanship
