PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This procedure defines how National Grid Transmission (Electricity) will both implement the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) and integrate their requirements into the business processes. It applies to all work which comprises the Transmission Electricity Capital programme utilising the Network Development Process (NDP).

It is recognised that for investments that fall in to the category of single asset replacement /refurbishment/recondition ( as defined in UKBP/TP236) then the full application of this TP may not provide the most cost efficient means of delivering that investment and hence TP minimum requirements as defined in UKBP/TP236 can be applied.

These minimum requirements are defined for each type of single asset replacement/ refurbishment/ recondition investment and are presented as separate appendices in UKBP/TP236. e.g. Appendix A CB Replacement (with CT's) & (without CT's)

Amendments to this procedure shall be reflected in UKBP/TP236 Appendices (if required) and may result in re-issue of UKBP/TP236 within the same period.

NB: Whereas this procedure as a whole is tasked with addressing the 2015 CDM Regulations, the 'Pre-Construction Information (PCI)' and 'Construction Phase Plan (CPP)' also incorporate environmental legislation, security and sustainability requirements.(Safety, Health, Environmental & Sustainability (SHES) and Security).
