scope:
Standard VDI 3469 Part 5 covers the production and processing of high-temperature insulation wools and is valid only in conjunction with standard VDI 3469 Part 1.
All cross-sector information on technology, emission control, limitation of emissions, measuring techniques, and on the bibliography is given in standard VDI 3469 Part 1.
Continuous fibres are not high-temperature insulation wool and therefore not the subject of this standard.
The operation of plants for the production of hightemperature insulation wool is governed by the German Federal Immission Control Act (BIm- SchG, Melting plants - Melting processes - pursuant to No. 2.11 of the 4th Ordinance on the Implementation of the Federal Immission Control Act (4. BImSchV)) and the associated statutory and technical regulations, see Bibliography. Plants that work with sol-gel synthesis require authorization pursuant to No 4.1 of the 4. BImSchV.
The Technical Instructions on Air Quality Control (TA Luft) defines requirements for overall dust, fibrous dust, and dust components for these industrial sectors.
