scope:
On the topic "Production and processing of fibrous materials", the Commission on Air Pollution Prevention of VDI and DIN has issued guideline series VDI 3469, which consists of Part 1 (Fundamentals) and several additional product-specific parts.
Part 5 of the guideline series VDI 3469 concerns the production and processing of high-temperature insulation wool and products made from high-temperature wool [28] and applies only in conjunction with VDI 3469 Part 1.
Guideline VDI 3469 Part 1 contains all the information common to all sectors of industry, in respect of technology, reducing emissions, measurement methods and literature references.
Filaments or continuous fibres are not high-temperature wool and therefore not the subject of this guideline.
The operation of plants for the production of hightemperature insulation wool is governed by the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) [G1] and the associated statutory and technical regulations [G3 to G8].
The Technical Instruction on Air Quality Control (TA Luft) [G2] in the version published on 2002-07-24 defines requirements for overall dust; fibrous dust and dust components for these industrial sectors.
