This specification relates to:
sleepers and bearers for use in ballasted track in Open and Sub-surface locations;
sleepers and bearers for use in concreted track in Tube running tunnel locations;
sleepers and longitudinal bearers for use on non-ballasted metal underbridges;
longitudinal bearers in locations where transverse sleepers cannot be used.
Purpose
The purpose of this specification is to define the performance requirements and acceptance criteria for sleepers and bearers (transverse and longitudinal) manufactured from composite materials (typically plastics).
