Scope and object
This part of IEC 60512, when required by the detail specification, is used for testing connectors. It may also be used for similar devices when specified in a detail specification. It is particularly, but not exclusively, suitable for connectors with removable contacts.
The object of this document is to detail a standard test method to assess the effectiveness of the interfacial sealing of a connector against ingress of water by exposure to low pressure whilst immersed in a salt solution. It is intended to assess the effectiveness of the interfacial sealing means of connectors. Further, if any wires or contacts are not fitted, it assesses the sealing of one cavity of a connector from another.
