scope:
Magnetically Sensitive Equipment (MSE) is used by all three Services in specialised areas. This includes: HUNT Class Mine Counter Measure Vessels (MCMV), SANDOWN Class Single Role Mine Hunter (SRMH), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and unique items, low magnetic equipment, assemblies, subassemblies and components held or laid apart.
Most specifications in this area are concerned with the influence magnetic items have on the mode of transport or other items carried, (see BS 3G 100 Part 2, Section 2 & Defence Standard 00-35 Part 4). This Standard is concerned with protecting particularly susceptible items against undue magnetic influence during packaging, handling, storage and transportation (PHS&T). It does not cover items such as; Pre-recorded Magnetic Tapes, magnetic Data Discs etc.
